Can artificial intelligence replicate the elegance, insight and wit of Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns?
That is the question Perry Gibson seeks to explore in this short pamphlet of works generated by his Robert Burns artificial intelligence program, fondly titled “Robot Burns”. Gibson, a PhD candidate at the University of Glasgow, doesn’t pass judgement on the success of the algorithm to produce works of equal quality, but does reflect on the interface between technology and art in this limited edition pamphlet. With 20 pieces curated, this publication presents work across a variety of subjects, with illustrations supplied by Scottish illustrator, Alasdair Currie.
All proceeds from the sale of the publication will be donated to The Samaritans and their work to prevent suicide, a subject close to Perry’s heart following the loss of his friend, Chris, in 2016.
POSTAGE AND PACKAGING FEES OF £1.50 FOR THE UK AND £5.00 FOR WORLDWIDE DELIVERY ARE IN ADDITION FOR THE PUBLICATION PRICE, ALLOWING US TO MAXIMISE THE DONATION FOR THE SAMARITANS.
